FUMC UMCOR
West Mission 2014
Sept. 27-Oct. 4

UMCOR West is a 22,000 square foot depot that stores disaster relief supplies that are sent state side and abroad in times of disaster and war. Volunteers gather, assemble, package and shelve relief supply kits for future shipping. Some volunteers are asked to help with other projects at the depot and in the Salt Lake Valley. UMCOR West offers opportunities to serve for short-term (one-week) mission teams.

The mission experience at UMCOR West varies with each group. The typical work week is Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. The first day at the Depot includes a morning orientation detailing the work of UMCOR in general. Volunteers may work assembling kits in the depot, cleaning the volunteer space, or outside work in the community with various service projects. On the final workday, volunteers will gather again for a time of reflection, worship, and planning for taking their experience to their home congregations.
